School Closure Information for Cinta Aveda Institute – San Jose, CA – July 5, 2026

The Office of Student Assistance and Relief (OSAR) has been notified that Cinta Aveda closed on July 5, 2026. 

Note: Institutions are expected to provide this information as part of an orderly closure; if these fields are blank, the institution failed to provide the relevant information.

School-Provided Refunds - California law requires schools to provide refunds when they close or break the enrollment agreement.  An institution shall be considered in default of the enrollment agreement when an educational program is discontinued or canceled, or the institution closes prior to completion of the educational program (California Education Code Section 94927).

For students considering The Salon Professionals Academy (TSPA):

You have the right to refuse to participate in a teach-out/transfer, and to instead obtain a refund from the institution.
Before enrolling in another institution or transferring, it is important that you learn more about the school and consider all options.

If you have already enrolled at TSPA and decide not to continue, you have cancellation and withdrawal rights (California Education Code, Section 94919).  If you decide not to continue, you should provide a notice of cancellation in writing to the school.  The institution shall provide a 100 percent refund if notice of cancellation is made through attendance at the first class session, or the seventh day after enrollment, whichever is later.

For students who are considering other options:

• Student Tuition Recovery Fund – For economic loss – California has a relief fund that may reimburse eligible students who lost money because of a school closure. If you were unable complete your program and are unable obtain a refund from the school, you may be eligible for a refund from the state.

For students who completed FAFSA:

• Ask school for a return of your federal student financial aid program funds.
• Check federal loans
• Confirm refund on federal loan money – Schools have an obligation to return unearned Title IV federal student financial aid program funds directly to the Department of Education.

• The Department of Education has annual limits to financial aid.  For students who are transferring, this may pose a challenge – the information you were quoted may not be final.  Follow up with Cinta Aveda on whether they are returning federal aid eligibility.  Your financial aid eligibility may depend on whether Cinta Aveda returns your federal aid.  In many cases, students may not know or TSPA may not know how much financial aid you qualify for.
